Phytochemicals, also called phytonutrients, are natural compounds found in fruits, vegetables, herbs, and other plants. They give plants their colour, taste, and smell. While they’re not essential like vitamins or minerals, many phytochemicals are believed to support health by helping the body fight off damage from stress and pollution. Found in foods like berries, spinach, and tea, they may also play a role in reducing the risk of diseases such as heart problems, diabetes, and some types of cancer when part of a balanced diet.
